HISTORY
The former Department of Preventive Dentistry which comprised of three units was unbundled in 2023 and became departments:
Orthodontics, Paedodontics and
Community Dental Health.
PHILOSOPHY
Community Dental Health is the branch of Dentistry practiced in relation to populations
and groups to arrive at population oral health diagnosis, planning and implementation of
measures and preventative services for the benefit of the public.
VISION
To improve the oral health of Edo State citizens as well as the general community through
research in the prevention of oral diseases and preventive services for the maintenance of
health.
MISSION
To be a leading center for oral health research nationally and internationally.
To provide preventive -oriented care that is evidence-based.
To become recognized as the leading oral health information resource center in the
community.
To be the major stake holder in the improvement and maintenance of the community’s oral
health.
