Welcome to the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology. We are dedicated to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and providing the highest standard of education in the areas of Oral diagnosis, Oral and Maxillo-facial Radiology, Dental Therapeutics, General Dental Studies (Family Dentistry) and modern Forensics and DNA Studies. The unit of Forensic Science and DNA studies is the academic component of the Centre for Forensic Programmes and DNA Studies (CEFPADS). The latter (CEFPADS) exists with dual subordination of administration under the office of the Vice-Chancellor while the academic component is under the department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology, School of Dentistry, College of Medical Sciences.

The department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology comprises a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, researchers, educators and support administrative staff who are committed to improving the quality of our students and advancing the field through cutting-edge research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through our educational programs, we strive to empower the next generation of dentists with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver comprehensive and evidence-based care. Our faculty members are recognized experts in their respective fields, and they are dedicated to mentoring and guiding students to become compassionate and proficient practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcome collaborations with other departments, institutions, and organizations. Together, we can work towards improving oral health outcomes, enhancing patient care, and making a positive impact on the community at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer undergraduate and postgraduate (PGD in Forensic and DNA Studies) programmes currently. Residency Programme in Family Dentistry of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) is also offered in the Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HISTORY<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology started in 1976 and was established as one of eight foundation Departments in School of Dentistry. The Department has 2 Professors, 1 Senior Lecturer, 5 adjunct lecturers and 2 administrative officers currently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objectives of the Department are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To comprehensively educate the undergraduate Dental Students and Residents in the scientific field of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology; including the diagnostic Methodologies of Oral and Maxillofacial complex diseases and treatment planning thereby enabling the students to diagnose and provide comprehensive oral health services in a Professional manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. To demonstrate in words and actions the commitment by the dental profession to provide competent care in a timely manner while respecting the Patients\u2019 values and interest. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Above all, to produce ethically sound graduates that are groomed in the ethics and ethos of the Dental Profession.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    MISSION<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The mission of the Department is to complement the School of Dentistry in developing exemplary Educators, Scientists, Care for diverse Community Dental needs and serving as Leaders in health Professional Education. This Mission is achievable through patient \u2013 centered, competency-based programme of comprehensive dental care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
